KAZA, Spiti Valley (himachalpradesh)

The valley and the surrounding area are one of the least populated regions of India and is the gateway to the far north of the nation has. Along the northern route from Manali or Keylong via the Rohtang Pass or Kunzum Pass respectively, the valley is located north-east Indian state of Himachal Pradesh and is a part of the district of Lahaul and Spiti. The sub-divisional headquarters (capital) is Kaza2, located along the Spiti river at 3800 meters above sea level
Lahaul and Spiti is surrounded by high mountains. The Rohtang Pass, at 3,979 m, separates Lahaul and Spiti valley Kulu. Lahaul Spiti and are separated from each other by the high pass Kunzum at (4590 m) 2. A road connects the two divisions, but it is frequently closed in winter and spring due to heavy snow. Similarly, the valley is cut off from the north to 8 months of the year due to heavy snowfall and icy conditions. A drive south to India is sometimes closed for short periods during the winter storms from November to June, but road access is usually restored a few days after the storm via Shimla and the valley Sutlej in Kinnaur district.
Spiti Valley is a cultural and research center for Buddhists. Attractions include the Monastery Key and Tabo Monastery, one of the oldest monasteries in the world and a favorite of the Dalai LAMA3.
This is where the landscapes are scenes of spectacular cinematography Indian film shot in 2006 Milarepa, a biographical tale of adventure of one of the most famous Buddhist Yogi. Buddhist monastery in the valley served as the location and some of the monks are in the movie.
The Pin valley, side valley of Spiti valley, welcomes Lamas rare survivor of the Nyingma school of Buddhism.
The small town of Manali was the first step of the ancient trade route to Ladakh and, from there, after the Karakoram to Yarkand and Khotan in the Tarim Basin
